Australia
Local Government system’s ill nature is criticized by former Prime Ministers
John Howard and Kevin Rudd
This article argues the problems, is over
centralism, for a country of such a large population and area size, Currently,
Australia’s got
1.
Too many governments on each level
2.
Too few levels of government
3.
Each government is too large
And need
1.
Fewer government on each level
2.
more level of governments
3.
each government been smaller in size.
Why? Take the US marine corps for example, 3
soldiers led by a corporal form a fire team, 3 fire team led by a sergeant form
a squad, 3 squad led by a Lieutenant and assisted by a platoon first sergeant
form a platoon, 4 platoon led by a Captain and assisted by a Company 1st
sergeant form a Company, 4 companies led by a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major
assist by a Battalion first sergeant, form a Battalion, 3 Battalions led by a
Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel assist by a Regiment first sergeant form a
Regiment.
But image there is only three levels including
fire team, company and regiment, a company command needs to directly coordinate
over 36 fire team and each regiment command need to directly coordinate over 12
Companies, much harder for the commanders of each level to coordinate and
command.

(Over centralization is a main reason China fall
by 19th century, when the Qing Empire that over throw the Ming
Empire, radically decrease local government power, resulting in many local
affairs been neglected. Prior to that all Chinese dynasty had a highly
decentralized government and as we known China use to be the most powerful
region and after the 17th century it starts deteriorating, until it
got surpassed by Europe by 19th century.)
